Submission Inspiration and Guidelines

Make your voice be heard.

FREE YOUR ME™ is a call to action to talk and share your truth. The fact is, being true to yourself isn’t always easy.  But now it’s time for you to define yourself — or as we like to say, to FREE YOUR ME™!

Most of us show the world only what we think they want to see, and hide all the rest. We encourage you to share your deepest feelings and end the shame and stigma that often surround mental health challenges. With the FREE YOUR ME™ campaign, we’re giving you the opportunity to tell the world who you are, rather than the other way around. Because no one can do it better than you.

So what are you waiting for? Record a 30-90 second video and tell us how you Free Your Me! Upload your video and we’ll put it up on NAMI WLA’s YouTube channel to encourage other students to share their ME.

Some helpful prompts:

  • What makes you happiest?
  • What makes you saddest?
  • What are you most looking forward to this year?
  • What are you most afraid of?
  • What makes you YOU? What deeply inspires you? What do you stand for?
  • When do you feel the most yourself?
  • Share a memory of the time that you felt most connected with yourself. What did that feel like?
  • What do you do to take care of YOU?
  • To be able to show up for yourself, you need to prioritize taking care of your physical and mental health.(ex. Go for walks, journal, play music, hang out with friends)
  • What do you think your closest friends and loved ones would think makes you the most YOU? Would you agree?

We want to know the answer to all these questions, but mostly we want YOU to know.
